Douglas Gray was born in Harrogate in 1965. After graduating with Higher National Diploma in Advertising and Design, he went on to achieve a distinction in Illustration.

Douglas launched his career as a poster designer for Athena International, but was soon lured into the world of advertising. Here he forged a highly successful path working for an impressive array of international clients including Pepsi and Universal Studios in the USA and a diverse range of companies in Australia and the far east.

Later Douglas began to concentrate his efforts into two areas; book jacket design for several major UK publishers and portraiture. The latter provided his entry into the world of fine art, and his portraits made a strong impression on a number of celebrity collectors.

Finding his creativity stifled by working to order, Douglas finally decided to go his own way painting figurative and landscape images; this proved to be the right decision and he has since spent many years all over Europe, winning a number of national awards. His work is now collected worldwide.
